Bem Vindo (Welcome)
2017 is your year. You can carve it however you please. It’s potential is your goldmine.
Below are a few in-house lessons for us at Fusion Laboratories.
We thought we’d share it in the event you find it useful, course-changing or inspirational.
2017 will be a great year, if we:
- don’t make the mistakes of 2016.
- improve, adapt and pivot. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside.
- go for it… Resources are never the problem. Lack of resourcefulness is.
- speak positively. Language is the software for the brain. Language is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
- embrace the unknown. Half the fun is in not knowing what’s going to happen. It is in periods of chance and uncertainty that great things happen.
- live a principle-centered life. Align ourselves with the natural laws that govern this world.
- value our dignity. The ends don’t justify the means.
- have a lust for life. Carry great energy and a pleasant disposition.
- find the funny side in life but remember, not to harm peoples real emotions.
- are a model of professionalism. Focus on being excellent at what you do.
- understand that there are many forms of riches. Financial wealth is just one of them.
- develop greater qualities of character.
- remain physically active and health conscious. In the mornings invigorate yourself with a five minute exercise session and a healthy breakfast. Begin the day with a strong biochemistry.
- grow. Read, attend courses and schedule learning. Growth should never stop. Absorb as much high-quality content as you can.
- err on the side of kindness. Make people feel good.
“When you deal with the souls of man, take off your shoes. You on holy ground.”
- balance short term, with the long term.
- are proactive. Sometimes the most proactive thing to do is just to be happy.
- limit the use of technology, social media and distractions.
“Sometimes I can’t let you take away my focus, even when I want to give it to you.”
- manage ourselves effectively.
- buy the person behind us a coffee. The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency you have.
- start our own personal jar of awesomeness.
- create light, fun moments. Enjoy your age. You are always young.
- relax. From this standpoint you will see greater opportunities.
- practice gratitude. We are usually trying to pursue something in the future that we already have.
- keep our promises.
- love without conditions.
- live without fear and control.
- fail. There are no spectacular victories without defeat.
- blend self-responsibility with self-forgiveness.
- persevere. It is the catalyst to luck.
- apologise. When you are going to bow, bow low.
- presume magic in every encounter.
- maintain balance. Don’t over-steer. Be a model of moderation.
- test the impossible.
- expect problems. One of our biggest problems is that we think we shouldn’t have problems.
- sidestep arguments. When they go low, we go high. They cannot beat you at intellect.
- are more selective in which battles we are going to contest. You don’t have to take on every one. Most are not worth your time.
- have the difficult conversations amicably. Even if they are not always peaceful, they may just bring you peace.
- smile. It crosses barriers where words can’t.
- travel and explore other cultures, people and places.
- are present. When couples look into each other’s eyes their heartbeats synchronise.
- live with enough. It is better than more.
- have clear expectations of our goals.
You don’t have to do all of the above. Life is more forgiving than that. Choose the ones that resonate with you and are most applicable. Then add what is uniquely your own.
Goal setting is a major part of your success. This preparation does not have to be overwhelming. Simplicity is the very key to success. Outline three goals in your primary areas of focus (example below). That is sufficient to set you on an exciting, better course.
Be bigger than your goals. If you aren’t, the goal may look so big that you won’t even start the journey.

Take your time to plan carefully. Ask yourself what is the best and highest use of you? You deserve WOW !
To feel fulfilled try to discover what you want and why you want it. A pull, is always more powerful than a push.
Sit in a quiet space. When you strip away the distraction you can truly see what’s important to you. Often our conflicts are between the conscious and subconscious mind.
Once you have thought about it, write it down. Writing is a psycho-neural muscular activity which helps integrate the conscious and subconscious minds. It distils and clarifies thoughts.
Develop a structure that is sustainable and enjoyable . The short term mindset is susceptible to quitting and frustration.
“We overestimate what we can do in the short term and underestimate what we can do in the long term.”
It’s certainly worthwhile to develop goals and a mission statement. They release capacity in you.
After planning, act, course correct and savour the journey. Your best is yet to come.
Here’s to better in 2017. We love all of you.
